What Is An
EMDR Therapy Program?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an evidence-based therapeutic modality that uses dual attention stimulation of the brain, such as eye movements which are thought to mimic REM sleep, to reduce the intensity of disturbing thoughts.
Formulated in the 90s, EMDR has helped countless people overcome their anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. An EMDR therapy program is based on the connection between the brain’s processing unit and rapid eye movements. It utilizes both the left and right sides of the brain, to replace traumatic memories or negative sensations with more positive ones.
